Camping in Dalhousie is the best way to have the adventure in the lap of the nature. Dare Adventures  make  arrangements for tent accommodation in particular camping grounds. Dalhousie Dalhousie (6500 Ft) established in 1854 by the British Governor General Lord Dalhousie, is today a hill station that still retains much of its charm. Built around five hills, Dalhousie is clothed in stately groves of deodhar and oak. Its marvellous forest trails overlook vistas of wooded hills, water falls, spring & rivulets. There are also magnificent views of the Chamba Valley and the mighty Dhauladhar range with its awe-inspiring snow covered peaks filling the entire horizon. Camping in Dalhousie is also a best for adventure in Himachal Pradesh.

 
How to Approach Manali

Rail: Nearest convenient rail head are at Pathankot. Manali can be reached from road from these stations.

Road: Dalhousie is well connected by road with Delhi. The Distance from New Delhi to Dalhousie is 571 km. And Drive from New Delhi to Dalhousie takes about 12 hours by car.

 
WHAT TO SEE

Khajjar: Located around 27 kilometers from Dalhousie, Khajjar is a major tourist attraction. The place is named after the twelfth-century, golden-vaulted temple of Khajinag. The place has picturesque lakes, magnificent meadow, and exotic architecture, which make it truly enchanting

 

Kalatop: Kalatop and Khajjiar are best explored if you take a three days walk from Dalhousie to Kalatop, Khajjiar and back Dalhousie. The trek is more or less level and requires good health, a pair of sturdy walking shoes. Kalatop is 10 kms from G.P.O. at an altitude of 8000 feet. Walking along the secluded and forested road through upper Nakorota hills, one reaches Lakkarmandi. Between G.P.O. and Lakkarmandi lies the Dalhousie water system, Tibetan Handicraft Centre and Dalhousie Potato Farm at Ahla. Lakkarmandi is nestled between 8600 feet high DayanKund peak on its right and Kalatop on the left

 

Upper Bakrota: The highest area in Dalhousie, it has a number of estates, a residential school, and an Army barracks at the top. The area is circled by a road called Bakrota Walk, on the way to Khajjiar which ends at Alah Water Tank. It was the preferred destination of the landed gentry of Punjab during the Raj, now populated by similar residents from the new India. Some of the houses are worth seeing, but are mostly on private gated estates.
